Act 3 scene 1

Characters: Banquo, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Attendant, Lenox, Rosse.

Location: A room in the palace.

Time: Macbeth is now king Macbeth.

Events: Banquo talks of how the witches were correct so far, and that they might be correct abut his own children, this also gets the audience to remember what the witches said would happen. Macbeth then comes out and talks of when Banquo will return from his riding. After this, he invites in 2 murderer’s and talks of how it was Banquo who made their lives so bad. So it seems next time Banquo shall be killed. He also talks of how mad he is that Banquo and his children will benefit as they will be the next kings, while they didn’t even have to do anything.

Quote:”Well then, now Have you considered of my speeches? Know that it was he, in the times past, which held you so under fortune, which, you thought, had been our innocent self.” This was said by Macbeth as he talks to the murderer’s. What was meant by this is that Macbeth has talked to the murderers before, and so we know that this has been going on for a while and that Macbeth had wanted Banquo dead for quite a while.
