Metaphor In Shakespeare.

“This ignorant present, and I feel now the future in the instant.” This was said by Lady Macbeth, in act 1 scene 5. The task is to find a metaphor that describes Lady Macbeth and her desires.

Lady Macbeth wishes to make the now known future of Macbeth, her husband, come true. “This ignorant present, and I feel now the future in the instant.” What I believe this to mean is that Lady Macbeth believes she knows how the future will go and that it comes closer to the now, while the “present”, who are the people who live there like King Duncan remain ignorant of what is too come. Shakespeare continues this in the next paragraph.

And that is the task over. do tell me if a correction could be made.

  1. I like how you’ve chosen an unusual metaphor for your analysis. You’ve explained the context and general intention of the words well – so what you will want to develop now is more specific analysis of the language effect itself. Look at how ‘ignorant present’ is actually a kind of personification of the time.
